
Trevor Thompson serves as the Environment & Climate Director at The Alliance. In this capacity, he provides technical assistance to members regarding climate, clean energy, and environment-related lending and initiatives. Trevor was previously the Program Officer and de facto Mission-Aligned Investments Advisor at the NorthLight Foundation, focusing on equitable climate adaptation and resilience, environmental and climate justice, climate and health equity, Just Transition, and ensuring that the foundation’s endowment and retirement plans were 100% mission-aligned while meeting fiduciary requirements. Prior to NorthLight, Trevor worked as a management consultant at the Bridgespan Group and as a professional futurist at the Institute for Alternative Futures. As a futurist, Trevor helped clients prepare for plausible futures through strategic foresight tools such as horizon scans, visioning sessions, forecasts, and scenario planning.
Trevor has served on the boards and/or steering committees of multiple organizations focused on environmental and racial justice, philanthropy, transformative finance, climate, and more. Trevor earned his MBA and Master of Environmental Management (MEM) from Yale University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University, where he also earned a secondary in African and African American Studies and a Spanish language citation.
