Trevor Thompson

Environment & Climate Director

Trevor Thompson serves as the Environment & Climate Director at the Alliance. In this capacity, he provides technical assistance to members regarding climate, clean energy, and environment-related lending and initiatives. Trevor was previously the Program Officer at the NorthLight Foundation, which worked to strengthen and broaden the environmental movement. Trevor’s work focuses on environmental justice, climate justice, climate and health equity, and Just Transition (ensuring that the transition away from fossil fuels to clean sources of energy is just and equitable). Trevor worked with organizations and initiatives across the nation, from the Bronx to Alaska. He also worked to ensure that the foundation’s endowment and retirement plans were 100% aligned with the mission while meeting fiduciary requirements. Prior to NorthLight, Trevor worked as a consultant at the Bridgespan Group and as a professional futurist at the Institute for Alternative Futures. As a futurist, Trevor helped clients prepare for plausible futures through strategic foresight tools such as horizon scans, visioning sessions, forecasts, and scenario planning.

Trevor has served on the boards and/or steering committees of multiple organizations focused on environmental and racial justice, philanthropy, transformative finance, climate, and more. Trevor has an MBA and a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) from Yale University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and public policy from Harvard University, where he also earned a secondary in African and African American Studies.
