Digital Marketing Intern

Location: Remote

We are seeking a highly motivated Digital Marketing Intern to support mission-driven storytelling within the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) industry. This role is ideal for a student or emerging professional interested in economic justice, impact investing, nonprofit communications, or public policy. 

The Digital Marketing Intern will assist in developing strategic content across digital platforms, translating complex financial topics into accessible, compelling messaging for diverse audiences including policymakers, funders, and community leaders. 

This position requires strong writing ability, attention to detail, and the ability to think strategically about audience engagement. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Draft and edit content for LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters, and website updates 
  • Translate industry concepts (CDFIs, community capital, small business lending, etc.) into accessible language 
  • Assist in developing short-form video concepts and campaign ideas 
  • Support content calendar development and execution 
  • Monitor and report on digital engagement metrics 
  • Conduct light research to support thought leadership content 

Required Qualifications 

  • Strong writing and editing skills 
  • Ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital engagement strategies 
  • Organized, deadline-oriented, and responsive 
  • Interest in community development, economic equity, nonprofit finance, or public policy 

Compensation & Structure 

Compensation for this role is $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill. 

The role is structured for 10–15 hours per week. 
The initial expectation will be approximately 10 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing to 15 hours based on performance, organizational need, and mutual agreement. 

This position is paid and classified as part-time hourly. The internship term will run from April 6, 2026, through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. 

Total projected compensation for the term ranges approximately from $9,750 to $17,550, depending on hours worked.

Mini Assignment: Mission-Driven Content Strategy 

Our organization operates within the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) industry, advancing community capital and access to financial resources in underserved communities. 

Part 1: Mission Translation (150–250 words) 
Explain what a CDFI is to someone who has never heard the term before. Your explanation should be clear, accessible, and free of jargon while reflecting equity and community impact. 

Part 2: Social Media Content Set 

Using the following scenario: 

“Our organization has helped deploy $2 million in small business loans to Black-owned businesses in rural communities.” 

Create: 

  • One LinkedIn post (professional tone) 
  • One Instagram caption (engaging and mission-driven) 
  • A short 30-second Reel concept (describe the visual concept and hook) 
  • A suggested headline for a newsletter feature 

You do not need to design graphics. Focus on messaging and strategy. 

Part 3: Strategic Thinking (100–150 words) 
Describe how you would increase engagement among: 

  • Policymakers 
  • Funders 
  • Community leaders
