Data & Technology Specialist


The Alliance is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Data and Technology Specialist to support the design, delivery, and maintenance of technology and data systems and infrastructure. Reporting to the Policy and Research Director, this position will collaborate with multiple departments to learn and understand technology and data workflows and lead improvements projects to improve the user experience for both internal and external customers.


  • Lead the technical development of the organization’s key data management capabilities
  • Handle basic administrative functions of data management including maintenance of user accounts, profiles, roles, rule sharing, field security, and permission setting in collaboration with IT team
  • Understand and translate business and functional requirements into data and technical specifications and tool configurations for advancement of systems and infrastructure
  • Assist in collecting feedback from staff, members, and other users and informing decisions regarding improved processes and product features
  • Lead the roll out and adoption of key technology platforms and processes, including leading training initiatives for staff and members in utilizing technology tools to maximize efforts and adopt new tech strategies
  • Continually evaluates market trends and competitive or alternate technologies, and applies best practices with accuracy and efficiency in all our technology platforms
  • Drive research, assessment, piloting, and support selection of third-party tools, features, and technologies in alignment with internal and external stakeholder requirements
  • Works in close coordination with other departments to evaluate usage and metrics of data platforms and tools
  • Build and maintain all dashboards and key reports to monitor business processes, data quality, and program implementation
  • Analyze and report on program outcomes and progress for internal and external parties
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver training on technologies, data systems, and/or processes
  • Provide just-in-time support to trouble-shoot issues and concerns as they arise


  • Must have strong technical and analytical skills and proven ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Ability to learn and adopt new technologies and systems and help with user onboarding and utilization of new and existing platforms
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to manage competing priorities and demonstrate strong attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication styles to the audience to the audience
  • Must be a self-starter; exceptional organizational skills required; ability to meet designated deadlines is also a critical qualification
  • Ability to prioritize duties and work independently while remaining flexible to changing assignments


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Management, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of technology and/or database management experience required.
  • 2+ years of Salesforce and/or other CRM administration experience preferred, experience with Salesforce Communities a plus
  • Experience with WordPress and/or other publishing platforms and content management systems a plus
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, reporting, and trend-tracking; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools a plus
  • Relevant experience in Agile management of technical projects
  • Experience with one or more modern, agile product development work management and reporting platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Github, Bitbucket) a plus
  • Experience in project management and process mapping
